Lockerley Estate is an award-winning, well respected regenerative farm in Hampshire, in the middle of which there is a fruit and veg plot. For 3 years the Estate has run the enterprise and having built up a good box-customer base and links to local shops and hubs, we now are wanting to make this aspect of the farm a separate entity and are flexible about the approach and model of the enterprise. We are open to a variety of rent arrangements with the aim to reduce the early stage risk.
There is a 9-acre plot available that has an irrigation system and UV filtered water, 3 polytunnels (all 6m x 20m with electric), growing beds plus 20 raised beds, fruit cage, small orchard, free range chicken run with 50 chickens, delivery vehicle, cold storage and an honesty shop. We have an established list of veg box customers via Ooooby and local shops and bakeries that we have supplied. There could be accommodation available.
The key ingredients we are looking for from the person/s or organisation growing and running the veg enterprise are:
· A love and passion for growing healthy, delicious and sustainable fruit and veg
· Some relevant training, e.g. in organic or no-dig growing practices
· Ideally experience of running a ‘growing’ business or a CSA and applying for grant funding, or other relevant business experience
· Ideally a team rather than individual
· Full UK driving license and right to work in UK
